ISHA

In a small but cozy room, a girl stands in front of the mirror, getting ready. Wearing a simple but beautiful dress, as she left her beautiful long black hairs open with a cap and gloves on her hand.

She sighs and close her eyes for a bit before opening them again with a new shine in them.

"All set, I just hope no disaster happen today, on the first day to university after holidays"

She picks up her bag that was on her study table, and put some books in it, that are scattered around the study table. Once she's done, she goes downstairs.

"Goodmorning Aunty, Goodmorning Uncle"

She greets the two people, that are sitting on the dinner table, one is reading a newspaper while the other one is serving breakfast.

Seeing her, the man, sitting on the head of the table with newspaper in hand, put down the newspaper and hugged her with a big smile.

"Goodmorning, Sweet pie, slept well last night?"

"Ji, Uncle"

(Yes)

"Goodmorning, Sweety"

"Laiye Aunty, hum aapki madad kar dete hain, breakfast lagane main"

(Let me help you serve the breakfast, Aunty)

"Aww, thanks beta"

"Mention not"

After this small interaction, all of them sat down to eat their breakfast. After eating the breakfast, she helps her aunty in cleaning the table and in the meanwhile her uncle gets ready and is standing at the doorstep.

"Come, Isha, I'll drop you at university, today"

With a little surprise, Isha asks him

"Aap to hospital ja rahe hai na, aur hospital to university ke opposite direction main padta hai?"

(Aren't you going to the hospital, cus hospital lies in the opposite direction?)

"Nahi beta, aaj main dusre sheher ja raha hu kisi kaam se, main aapki university ke aage se hi niklunga to socha ki aapko bhi drop karta chalu"

(No dear, I'm going to another city for some work, I'll be passing from in front of your university, so I thought I might as well drop you there)

"Ohh, acha, aur aunty aap?"

(Ohh, ok, and aunty you?)

"Nahi beta, aaj meri chutti hai, hospital me aaj mujhe koi kaam nahi hai...jabtak......koi emergency na aa jae"

(No dear, today's my day off, I don't have any work in hospital today...unless.....an emergency comes)

She laughed as she joked about the emergency part. Isha and her uncle looked at each other and also laughed a bit before Isha greeted her farewell and left with her uncle to her university.

The ride was quite but cozy. Then Isha's uncle spoke in a warm and gentle voice.

"University main sabh thik hai na, mera matlab hai ki koi ab aapko pareshaan to nahi karta?"

(Is everything alright in university, I mean that no one troubles you now, do they?)

"Nahi nahi uncle, sabh kuch thik hai, aapko chinta karne ki zaroorat nahi hai, aur agar koi pareshan karta bhi hai to......vo sambhaal leti hai"

(No no uncle, everything's alright, you don't need to worry about it, and even if someone tries to trouble then........she handles it)

Saying that Isha laughed a bit and smile also comes on her uncle's face but a line of worry also came.

"Dhyaan rakhna beta, uska baar baar samne aana bhi kabhi kabhi pareshani khadi kar sakta hai, behtar yehi hoga ki aap kam se kam musibat main pado"

(Be careful dear, her coming in front again and again can also create trouble sometimes, it will be better that you face as little trouble as possible)

".....ji"

(.....yes)

"Aapne apne headphone to apne paas rakh lie hai na?"

(You kept your headphones with you, right?)

"Ji uncle, humne rakh lie hain, aap chinta mat karo"

(Yes uncle, I've kept it, don't worry)

Her uncle smiled reassuringly, and said

"Agar koi bhi problem ho toh mujhe call kar lena"

(If there's any problem call me)

Isha simply nodded to his remark and soon they reached near Isha's university. Hey uncle stopped the car a few blocks away from the university.

"Mujhe ab yaha se right ko jana hai, aap yaha se chali jaogi na?"

(I've to turn right from here, you can go from here, right?)

"Ji, koi baat nahi uncle, hum chale jaenge"

(Yes, no problem uncle, I can go from here)

They both bid their farewell to each other, after that Isha's uncle left. Isha turned around and started walking towards the university as she plugged in her headphones with soft music playing. She also wore a mask.

Although it was still quite early in the morning but as Isha got closer to the university, many people, probably, fellow students, were already entering the university.

The early morning sun cast a golden glow over the university entrance, stretching long shadows across the pavement. The crisp air buzzed with murmured conversations, the occasional burst of laughter, and the rhythmic shuffle of footsteps. Students, some still groggy from sleep, trudged towards the grand gates, their backpacks slung over shoulders, coffee cups clutched like lifelines.

A few lingered by the sidewalk, finishing last-minute breakfast bites or adjusting their scarves against the lingering morning chill. Bicycles whizzed past, their riders expertly weaving through the crowd.

It seemed like a any other normal day, the only weird and strange thing that was happening was, no matter which student, whether they were laughing with their friends, eating their last-minute breakfast bites, drinking coffee, riding bicycles, even those who were still groggy from from sleep, anyone, literally anyone that saw Isha, got silent, stopped eating/drinking, even those half-sleepers were fully awake.

A few moments ago where the air was buzzing with loud conversation, murmuring and laughter, was now silent. Students were clearing a path for Isha to go. A clear straight path was now formed inbetween the bustling crowd of students.

No one was daring to even look at Isha, but Isha kept on walking without stopping for even a moment while listening to music, as if everything that's happening is normal. She was behaving like it's yet another normal day for.

This incident continued happening wherever she went, from the university entrance to until she reached the lecture hall.

The same thing happened in the hall too. Moments ago, the lecture hall was buzzing with conversations, laughter, murmuring and giggling but as soon as Isha enter.....pin drop silence.

But that doesn't seem to effect Isha as she calmly walked through the hall to go and sit on her usual spot....in the very corner in the last row.

She sat down and took out her books to read, this scene was also a bit strange because no one was going near Isha and the corner where Isha was sitting got completely empty. No one was sitting or standing there except Isha.

The conversations and murmuring started once again but it wasn't as loud as before, as if they are afraid of Isha listening. Even their topics of conversations shifted entirely towards Isha.

On the other hand Isha, completely unaffected by all this, continued reading her book while listening to the soft music playing in the background, completely cutting off the noises from the outer world.

Soon after sometime, the professor came and the lectures started as usual. After attending all the lectures, Isha calmly got up and left the university, and the same incident as morning happened once again.

She went back home, the next whole week was the same. She'd get up early, eat breakfast, go to university, attend her lecture, come back home, study, eat dinner and sleep.

She repeated this routine again and again, this has become her schedule. And in the blink of an eye, a whole week passed by. Everyday was a normal day, until.......
